GROUP: Men’s Leadership Group (not currently accepting new members)

Men, do you want to create positive change in your life and your community?

Do you want to become more confident and effective in all areas of your life? Do you seek meaningful connection that supports you in becoming your best self?

We know that men are at risk for isolation and can struggle to participate in community. This group attends to these risks by cultivating our emotional intelligence, connection to other men, and community building. We are a supportive group of men committed to helping each other sort through our sensitivities, develop their talents and leadership capacities, and face life’s mysteries.

We’ll explore our emotional experience in our relationships with our friends, family, colleagues, and communities. Through this exploration we will develop our capacity for compassion, humility, courage, and fierceness. These capacities will support our mutual learning, healing, and community engagement.

Peter T. Dunlap, PhD, is a clinical and political psychologist focused on helping psychologically minded citizens to identify and explore their unique leadership capacities and to develop the public emotional intelligence called for by our time. His group trainings support participants to cultivate this self-awareness and to learn how to foster the fellowship needed for group and community development. Peter is the author of Awakening Our Faith in the Future: The Advent of Psychological Liberalism (Routledge, 2008) as well as many other journal articles, book chapters, blog posts, and an occasional rant on one list server or another.

What does the group focus on?

  • Bringing together different generations of men so that we can help each other face life’s miseries and mysteries

  • Supporting each other’s raw and refined talents

  • Developing a psychological attitude to learn about and subdue our impulsivity and indulgences

  • Acknowledging our sensitivities and injuries while creating an environment for healing and transformation

  • Using our experience in the group to expand our understanding of how we can build supportive communities for ourselves and those we love
