GROUPS

In therapy we learn to heal and to develop our unique talents. Group work extends this healing into our neighborhoods and communities, enabling us to find a path to leadership.

Leadership is not the brilliance of a few, but the capacity of every one of us. Not everyone needs to be an activist. Each one of us is uniquely talented and capable of leadership.

Leadership can be depleted. Community organizing is known to be exhausting. My groups offer a safe, energizing space to balance leadership and self-care while learning about belonging and fellowship.

Whether conservative, liberal, or progressive, we struggle to recognize that we human beings are engaged in a developmental process — as individuals and as groups or communities. When we lose sight of our shared development, we polarize and scapegoat each other.

When we learn about our own and our group's development, we begin to find ways to fit ourselves back together, to form the type of community organizations called for by our time.

Which groups do you lead?

I currently lead a co-ed Hope & Leadership group (accepting new members based on initial consultation) and a Men’s Leadership group (not currently accepting new members). Please explore the calendar to learn more about current groups.

What happens in the groups?

Twice monthly, groups meet to explore their experiences while practicing creative leadership skills. We focus on developing leadership capacities, conflict resolution and group facilitation skills, and strategies for overcoming burnout, isolation, and fatigue.

How can I learn more?

Please call or email me to set up a time for a brief introductory conversation focused on determining whether your goals fit in with the group’s. For some groups, participants may need prior training or group experience. Costs are determined on a sliding scale.

Do you offer customized leadership training for individuals?

Yes. With individual leadership training, we aspire to a new level of thinking that integrates individualism with social responsibility. Please call or email me to set up a time for an introductory conversation focused on ensuring that your goals are a fit with my approach and experience.

“I am a husband, father, psychologist, author, and American citizen. I seek meaningful and enjoyable ways to bring all of these different identities together. In the work that I do, I have found that we can care for ourselves, each other, and the world.”
