PSYCHOTHERAPY
Couples therapy
Perhaps my greatest strength is as a couples therapist. I seem to have a way of helping couples learn more about communicating, connecting, and saying “yes” and “no” to the person they love. Of course, this includes learning to resolve conflicts without collapsing, indulging in finger-pointing, or simply being stubborn.
We all have so much to learn. When we approach our conflicts bearing this in mind, we see positive results.
Midlife and meaning
I specialize in working with men and women at midlife who are trying to sort out issues related to career, family, relationships, or simply the meaning and purpose of their lives. Often this involves working with anxiety, depression, and the anguish that comes from being human at this unique time in our collective history. It also includes attending to the natural grief of aging and health issues by committing anew to the mysteries of life and finding our unique purpose. As we embrace our aging we can find wisdom in our experience — wisdom needed by the generations to come.
Meaning-seeking and purpose-driven young adults
I enjoy and specialize with working with young adults seeking to form effective intimate relationships and pursue purpose-driven vocations capable of bringing them meaning, good work, and connection with their community. This often involves exploring relationships deeply for the sake of learning and healing. Through this exploration, we can discover which forms of community engagement are natural given the individual’s sensitivities, talents, and the unique ways they have suffered.
“I am confident in our ability to change, to become our best selves, and to activate the capacities that will make us kind, effective, and helpful to others. Through such exploration and development, we find contentment and fulfillment.”
